Your share of global carbon dioxide

If all the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere were shared equally amongst every person on the planet (7 billion of us) this is how much we'd have each - 446 tonnes of it. This month, the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere reached 400 parts per million. In pre-industrial times the concentration was 280 ppm, which means 3 out of every 10 carbon dioxide molecules in the atmosphere today were put there by us. In the last million years of Earth's history, the concentration has not exceeded 300 ppm, until now.
